Computing environments for spatial data analysis
This paper describes the functionality and architecture of SpaceStat, the SpaceStat Extension for ArcView and the DynESDA Extension for ArcView. It compares the features of these packages to five other software implementations for spatial data analysis. Some ideas are formulated on generic requirements and future directions pertaining to computing environments for spatial data analysis.
متن کاملComputing Environments for Data Analysis Part 3 : Programming Environments ∗
This is the third in a series of papers on aspects of modern computing environments that are relevant to statistical data analysis. In this paper, we discuss programming environments. In particular, we argue that integrated programming environments (for example, Lisp and Smalltalk environments) are more appropriate as a base for data analysis than conventional operating systems (for example Unix).
متن کاملComputing Environments for Data Analysis Part 1 : Introduction
This is the first in a series of papers on aspects of modem computing environments that are relevant to statistical data analysis. We argue that a network of graphics workstations is far superior to conventional batch or time-sharing computers as an environment for interactive data analysis. The first paper in the series provides a general introduction a&motivation for more detailed considerati...
متن کاملData classification algorithm for data-intensive computing environments
Data-intensive computing has received substantial attention since the arrival of the big data era. Research on data mining in data-intensive computing environments is still in the initial stage. In this paper, a decision tree classification algorithm called MR-DIDC is proposed that is based on the programming framework of MapReduce and the SPRINT algorithm. MR-DIDC inherits the advantages of Ma...
متن کاملAdaptive Dynamic Data Placement Algorithm for Hadoop in Heterogeneous Environments
Hadoop MapReduce framework is an important distributed processing model for large-scale data intensive applications. The current Hadoop and the existing Hadoop distributed file system’s rack-aware data placement strategy in MapReduce in the homogeneous Hadoop cluster assume that each node in a cluster has the same computing capacity and a same workload is assigned to each node. Default Hadoop d...
